About the role

As the Philanthropy Manager, you will play a key role in building and managing meaningful relationships with major donors across Victoria, Tasmania, and Western Australia. Reporting to the Head of Community and Engagement, you’ll develop and execute philanthropy strategies, secure transformative gifts, and collaborate with senior stakeholders to advance Climate Council’s mission and drive impactful donor engagement.
  • Build and manage long-term relationships with major donors across Victoria, Tasmania, and Western Australia, fostering meaningful engagement and growing income streams.
  • Develop and execute tailored donor engagement strategies aligned with Climate Council’s mission.
  • Partner with the Senior Leadership Team and key stakeholders to strengthen donor connections and secure transformative gifts.
  • Identify, research, and cultivate prospective donors, expanding the major gifts portfolio.
  • Create compelling donor communications, proposals, and events that highlight the impact of their contributions.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in the role you will:
  • Hold a minimum 3 years’ experience working in major gifts, philanthropy or adjacent relationship fundraising focussed practices.
  • Demonstrate strong relationship management skills, with the ability to confidently drive conversations with prospective donors.
  • Experience developing philanthropy strategies and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience inputting and managing stakeholder information in a CRM system (Salesforce or similar).
  • Familiarity with the climate/environment sector or similar mission-driven organisations is desirable but not necessary.
  • Strong writing skills, with a background in crafting tailored donor communications and impact reports will be advantageous.
