Going beyond recruitment: Support through an organisational closer

When one of our long-term manufacturing clients announced the closure of a major site, Scott Logan (VIC) and Alan Claire (NSW) alongside the contracting team at Six Degrees Executive saw an opportunity to provide meaningful and critical support to both the business and the individuals affected by this change.
Manufacturing employees can often spend 20–30 years in the same role, meaning many had never navigated the job market or interviewed for new positions. Recognising the complexity of the situation, both Scott and Alan ensured the client’s employees were kept informed and supported during a challenging time, where employees needed to start thinking about the next phase of their career.
The team’s involvement began with site visits at both locations, where they met face to face with employees. Their empathetic approach extended well beyond typical recruitment practices, drawing on the consultant’s extensive tenure and experience within the industry and current market.
Scott and Alan also worked closely with the client to explore ways to support employees leaving the business, including how contracting opportunities could act as a bridge to permanent roles.
The team provided tailored advice to help the employees build confidence and identify opportunities that aligned with their unique skills and career aspirations. Scott also hosted webinars to address employees’ questions, providing clarity and actionable guidance on their options to re-enter the workforce. These sessions helped alleviate uncertainty and empowered individuals to take proactive steps towards their future.
This collaborative approach wasn’t a formal service offering, but rather a reflection of Six Degrees’ commitment to going above and beyond. By building trust with employees and providing clear, actionable guidance, the team was able to help individuals feel more confident and prepared for what was going to be an impactful change on their lives and careers.
Contracting roles provide employees with the chance to gain experience in new environments, rebuild their confidence, and get their foot in the door. So by offering thoughtful advice and creating pathways through contracting opportunities, we were able to help bridge the gap with ease.
This approach not only supported the employees but also offered flexible staffing solutions during transitional periods.
The client’s General Manager noted:
"The team's ability to build trust and meaningful connections stood out during this process. Their dedication to supporting our people and offering tailored advice, even in an informal capacity, demonstrated a genuine commitment to going above and beyond to add value."
We are committed to providing care, guidance, and opportunity for individuals and organisations alike. Whether navigating closures or helping employees take the next step in their careers, our team is here to support every stage of the journey.
