CONTRACTING WITH US

GROW YOUR CAREER

AT YOUR PACE

After 20 years in the industry, we have seen first-hand the benefits of making a career out of contracting. If you’re considering a switch from permanent to contractor, you’re not alone.

  • Not ready to commit to a permanent role? A contract role is a great way to pause, reflect on your career, and decide on your next steps. But it's not the only benefit!
  • Skills development: contract roles offer opportunities for growth through exposure to new industries and projects.

  • Networking: build your professional network faster by meeting new professionals in your field during each assignment.

  • Work/life balance: choose assignments that fit with your schedule, giving you greater control.

  • Financial freedom: set your own rates and have the potential to earn more than salaried employees, especially in specialised fields.

Our dedicated contracting team is first to hear about new opportunities so you'll be the first to know! From short term to long term, you're in the right place.

CONTACT US

What is the link to log my weekly hours?

You can access our user-friendly online payroll and timesheet system called "Astute" here or by clicking on the "Timesheets" button on our website homepage.

Astute Help Centre Links

If you're using Astute to submit timesheets, these articles from the Astute Help Centre might be helpful.

When do I need to complete my timesheets by?

Timesheets need to be submitted every Friday and approved by your assignment manager by 12pm on Monday. You’ll receive a notification if they haven’t been approved. It’s your responsibility to make sure the approval goes through so that you don’t miss the pay run. Please note that there will be a fee for any out of schedule payment.

When will I be paid?

Payroll is processed fortnightly and will normally hit your account on the Friday of pay week. Superannuation is paid monthly. You’ll notice that the hourly rate on your contract includes super, so please keep this in mind when reading your payslip. At tax time, you’ll receive advice advising how to access your group certificate via MyGov.

Who do I contact if I need to take leave or notice periods?

If you’re taking leave, please get in touch with your consultant directly to let them know, after approval from your assignment manager.
• If you’re running late or taking sick leave, please contact your assignment manager directly.
• Your notice period is listed on your contract, though we always appreciate as much notice as possible, so please get in touch if your circumstances change.

Who do I contact if I have any concerns regarding my placement?

For any queries or questions related to your placement (leave and notice periods, health & safety...), please get in touch with your consultant directly.

Who do I contact for any questions related to my contract?

Our dedicated Contracting Operations & Compliance Specialist Martina Marinucci is your best point of contact for any payroll/contract/ administration related queries. You can reach her on 03 8613 3509 or via email at contractor@sde.com.au.

What is the difference between temp and contracting roles?

Temporary roles cover for employees who are sick or on leave and can last from a few hours to a few weeks. Temporary staff are paid hourly. Contracting roles are longer with defined terms and lengths, including pay and hours. Contracts have a precise end date and a set salary paid pro-rata, with additional benefits such as sick pay.
