Procurement Category Manager – Raw Materials & Packaging

About the Role:
Our client is looking for a skilled procurement professional to oversee a diverse and high-value category supporting multiple manufacturing sites. This role is instrumental in driving cost efficiencies, fostering supplier innovation, and shaping strategic sourcing initiatives within a complex supply landscape. With a significant spend across a broad range of materials, this position offers the opportunity to influence procurement strategy on a larger scale, working within a globally connected function that plays a key role in business success.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement category strategies for direct materials procurement across the business.
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to trial and introduce new materials.
  • Work closely with the Manufacturing Director to align procurement with production needs.
  • Manage supplier contracts, negotiations, and performance to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Support change management programs, including onboarding preferred and alternate supplier products into the Australian market.
  • Work within an SAP ERP environment to optimize procurement processes.
  • Act as a trusted procurement partner, engaging with internal stakeholders across sales, marketing, logistics, manufacturing, finance, and legal.
About You
  • 5-10 years' experience in procurement/category management, ideally within industrial manufacturing or adaptable from other direct categories.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, able to drive procurement as a value-added function.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead supplier innovation, strategic sourcing, and cost optimization.
  • Experience in R&D collaboration, product trials, and supplier-driven innovation.
  • Hands-on, results-oriented leadership style with a strategic mindset.
  • Proficiency in SAP and modern procurement tools (e.g., Jaggaer).
