Senior Brand Manager - Brand, Innovation and Insights

The Role
Lead long-term brand/portfolio strategy and oversee the day-to-day brand management activities to drive the commercial agenda and financial delivery of the brand/s, across both Retail and Commercial Channels. Collaborate with the Head of Marketing to deliver insights-driven strategy, prioritising critical commercial opportunities and unlocking future growth through a deep understanding of our consumers and customers. Assist in the development of a long term innovation pipeline and key project development.
 
Responsibilities
BRAND STRATEGY & MANAGEMENT
  • Working with other marketing leads in the development & implementation of a compelling 24-month rolling brand plan, ensuring plans are precise, compelling, distinct, deliverable, and sustainable - maximising strengths, building on consumer insights, and capitalising on marketplace opportunities.
  • Effective delivery of the 12 months commercial plan with contingency planning in place
  • Monitor competitor strategies and recommend adjustments to brand plans where required.
  • Performance Measures / KPIs:
  • Achievement of NSV, PC and VOL growth for the brand by customer & channel
  • Management of marketing spend in line with or less than the budget
  • Achievement of market share improvements
BRAND PLANNING
  • Effective & timely development & implementation of communication, media, digital, promotional & sponsorship activities, taking into account the broader market & competitive context.
  • Continue to contribute to the ongoing assessment and evolution of the portfolio strategy, ensuring appropriate growth & maintenance strategies are in place across the portfolio and within key sales channels.
  • Manage marketing budget and expenditures for the relevant brand/s
  • Work closely with the broader commercial stakeholder to align sales and marketing strategies and execution.
PRICING & VALUE OPTIMISATION
  • In conjunction with Sales, Portfolio Manager and Operations, leads and develops pricing & value optimisation strategy & actions for execution.
INNOVATION DEVELOPMENT
  • Influence the innovation agenda for the brand/s, bringing thought leadership and project management expertise to deliver key innovation projects.
INSIGHTS MANAGEMENT
  • Insight development delivering strong consumer/customer empathy across the portfolio
  • Leads data-driven initiatives, conducting market research and data interpretation.
  • Collaborate across departments, ensuring insights align with business goals, enhance consumer understanding, and drive decision-making.
PEOPLE & TEAM DEVELOPMENT
  • Lead, coach and develop direct reports facilitating strong learning & development opportunities & ensuring regular career dialogues & annual reviews.
  • With demonstrated passion for the brands & the broader commercial agenda, energise and motivate the sales team, wider organisation and retailers behind core brand activities, ensuring alignment to a broader set of SBU objectives.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with key external stakeholders and agencies (e.g., Creative and Media Agencies, Packaging & PR agencies) to achieve brand objectives.
 
Key Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification within either Marketing/Commerce/Business/Arts/Law is essential.
  • 7+ years marketing or brand management experience in a high volume and fast-paced consumer goods company with proven record of achievement.
  • Experience in Insights / Innovation
  • Comfortable with all marketing disciplines including working closely with creative, design, digital & media agencies to develop outstanding advertising creative and media programs.
  • Solid commercial understanding and experience including insight into competitor and retailer strategies and activity.
  • A detailed understanding of the Australian and New Zealand retail industry as it relates to the FMCG markets.
  • Experience in B2B highly desirable.
  • Insights development, research management mandatory
  • Innovation project leadership, and portfolio innovation management preferred.
  • Experience in managing a team to achieve specific business results.
  • In-depth knowledge of market research.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.
