Our client is a financial services company based in Melbourne CBD, who are looking for immediate support within their SMSF finance team due to an increased capacity with workload.
 
About the role

This position is a 6-month contract role with the opportunity for extension. The role is based in the Melbourne CBD area with a hybrid working model (2 days in office, 3 days from home). Sitting in the Fund Accounting Team and reporting into the SMSF Manager you will be assisting the Fund Accountant for the preparation and delivery of quality management, statutory and regulatory reports. As well as tax returns and assisting in the daily reconciliation of the client’s fund account. Approximately 50% of the role will involve providing general administrative support to the team.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Assist with preparing management reports, statutory financial statements, and regulatory submissions (APRA & ABS returns).
  • Support the preparation and filing of tax returns, including BAS, withholding tax, and income tax.
  • Reconcile cash accounts, including member contributions, rollovers, benefit payments, and settlements.
  • Process fund transactions such as contributions, rollovers, and benefit payments.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
About You
  • Previous experience of at least 1-2 years in a fund accounting, superannuation, or investment operations role or similar, within the financial services industry.
  • Experience in self-managed super funds (SMSF) is a must.
  • Exposure to Class software is essential.
  • Proactive approach with the ability to interact successfully at all levels across the organisation.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to resolve problems.
  • Good time management skills to meet stakeholder deadlines.
