As we continue to expand, we are looking for an experienced and driven National Account Manager to join our team and manage key accounts across the ANZ grocery channel.
Position Overview
As the National Account Manager (NAM) for the Grocery Channel at Mr Fothergill’s Seeds, you will be responsible for driving growth and managing key grocery retail accounts across Australia and New Zealand. This role is crucial to expanding our brand presence and sales within the grocery sector, working with major supermarket chains, independent retailers, and other grocery-related businesses. You will leverage your strong relationships and strategic approach to ensure that our products are successfully marketed and well-represented in stores across ANZ.
Key Responsibilities
  • Account Management & Strategy Development:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key grocery accounts across Australia and New Zealand, including major supermarket chains and independent retailers.
    • Develop and implement tailored strategic account plans to achieve sales and revenue targets within the ANZ grocery channel.
    • Work cross-functionally with internal teams (marketing, logistics, supply chain, and product development) to ensure the seamless execution of product promotions, launches, and retail initiatives across ANZ.
  • Sales & Revenue Growth:
    • Drive sales growth in both Australia and New Zealand by identifying and capitalising on new business opportunities within the grocery retail sector.
    • Monitor and analyse sales performance, market trends, and competitor activities to adjust account strategies and maximise growth potential.
    • Negotiate pricing, promotional activities, and terms with retailers to ensure mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Promotions & Product Placement:
    • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement region-specific promotional campaigns designed to drive sales across both Australia and New Zealand.
    • Ensure optimal product placement, visibility, and merchandising within grocery stores to maximise sales opportunities.
    • Monitor and track the success of promotions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and providing feedback for future strategies.
  • Customer Service & Relationship Management:
    • Provide exceptional customer service to key accounts across both Australia and New Zealand, addressing issues and concerns promptly and professionally.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for all matters related to grocery accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
  • Market Insights & Competitor Analysis:
    • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging market opportunities across ANZ’s grocery sector.
    • Provide regular reports on account performance, market conditions, and competitor movements to senior management, helping shape future strategies.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork:
    • Collaborate with the wider sales, marketing, and operations teams to align strategies and ensure business objectives are met across ANZ.
    • Participate in internal strategy meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of business processes and performance.
Skills & Experience
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in national or regional account management, with a focus on the grocery retail sector (supermarkets, independents, etc.) across Australia and New Zealand.
    • Proven track record of managing large, complex accounts and achieving sales targets within the grocery or FMCG sector.
    • Deep understanding of the ANZ grocery retail landscape, consumer behaviour, and market trends.
  • Key Skills:
    • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills with a customer-centric approach.
    • Analytical mindset, capable of using data and insights to make strategic decisions and drive business outcomes.
    • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Effective communicator, able to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Education & Qualifications:
    • A relevant degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
    • Experience or knowledge in the gardening, horticultural, or related industries is an advantage, but not essential.
