Head of Service & Business Development - Capital Equipment

About the role:
 
Reporting to the newly appointed CEO and joining the senior leadership team, this critical role will empower the successful candidate to design and establish a best-in-class service department. The goal is to develop a profit centre that contributes at least 30-40% of the organization's overall revenue within the next three to five years. This role will have five direct reports and play a wider leadership role in bringing a service centric capability to the organisation.
 
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Work with the leadership group to develop and execute the strategy to create a best practice service and maintenance business unit - designed to improve customer experience and drive significant revenue growth
  • Develop a strategic road map for winning new service contracts across the existing customers, and target new business opportunities
  • Educate & train the existing project sales team to fully understand service solution and to sell to as part of the overall solution
  • Look to implement systems, process and a scalable service platform that will enable the department manage works flows effectively
Key Skills & Experience:
  • Ideally be degree qualified (engineering or related subject) and have come from a business which service is a key revenue stream to the organisation - (Industrial capital equipment)
  • Proven track record of commercial growth, evidence of building and growing best in class service departments and revenue streams
  • Experience of taking an organisation on a journey from a reactive to proactive maintenance service model
  • Negotiation and contract management – adequately skilled at driving mutually beneficial commercial outcomes through influence, active listening, and detail orientation
  • Financial/commercial acumen – understands the numbers and commercial impacts of the decisions they make with respect to the top and bottom line
  • A leader who is results focused and is comfortable flexing between strategic and tactical initiatives with ease, including hands on business development
