Quality Assurance Manager

Location: melbourne
Job Type: permanent
Salary: Full time OR permanent part time (3/4 days P/W)

About the business

This organisation has its origins as a leading global food business across multiple categories. Having expanded operations into Australia and New Zealand in recent years, they have a growing share and are continuing to innovate alongside their core product offering. Based in central Melbourne and offering flexible working arrangements and a strong organisational culture, this employer continues to grow their footprint locally.

About the role
Given the global manufacturing presence of the organisation, this will be the first Quality leadership appointment in the Australian iteration of the business, with this function previously having been supported by an external auditor. This presents as an exciting opportunity for an experienced food quality professional to come in and own what is essentially a "blank canvas". You will be the technical subject matter expert, supporting overseas manufacturing. With this in mind, expect the core activities of the role to focus on:
  • Complex stakeholder management across multiple functions and geographies - this can be grouped into operations, vendors and suppliers among others
  • Food safety, with ownership of the local FSQ program as the subject matter expert in technical for the Australia business.
  • Compliance and regulatory affairs - think packaging, allergens, product claims and audit

What we are looking for?

With this role being such a critical hire, particularly given the semi-greenfield nature of the function in Australia, the following will encompass part of the key selection criteria for the role

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant technical vertical - food science, chemistry etc.
  • Demonstrated experience within a food safety/quality assurance role within the manufacturing sector
  • Strong project management capability
  • High level communication skills, working across a range of stakeholders in different functions and different timezones.

Why this role?
  • Newly created role in an organisation with significant global operations and expanding local footprint
  • Hybrid working arrangements, split between a corporate office environment and allowing for WFH
  • Engaged organisational culture
  • Opportunity for this role to be permanent full time, OR 3/4 days per-week, depending on the successful candidate
